School trustees are the critical link between communities and school board. They are the members of the school board. School board trustees are responsible for governing our children’s education system. They are locally elected representatives of the public and are accountable to their electorate. Trustees are expected to attend community meetings including school council meetings and respond to the concerns of parents and community members.
School trustees are responsible for governing the school system in the best interests of the all the students.
They are responsible for identifying the needs and priorities of their community and ensuring these are considered in the decisions that result in practical educational opportunities for the students. School Board Trustees are responsible for establishing policy direction as well as the operations of the public school system.
